# The GOOD Party in the Western Cape says a total of 664.3-million-rand allocated by the Infrastructure Department to build free basic houses for people on a waiting list of over 680-thousand, has gone unspent. GOOD’s Secretary-General, Brett Herron, says one-thousand families could have had homes but instead have to endure another year on the waiting list. He says that 157.2-million-rand allocated to upgrade informal settlements, where people are living without water, sanitation, and dignity, has also not been spent:
