Lectures halted at various CPUT campuses

# Lectures have been halted at various Cape Peninsula University of Technology campuses as students stage a shutdown over several concerns, including the institution’s proposed 2027 financial plan. Students are also unhappy about a mandatory upfront payment of seven-thousand-rand for academic and residence registration. Student Representative Council president Liyabulela Gela says the shutdown follows a mass meeting last Friday, where students handed management a memorandum of demands. He says lectures will not resume until their concerns are addressed by the university.
