# The Cape Flats Safety Forum urges newly appointed Western Cape Police Commissioner Sizakele Dyanti to take a different approach from his predecessor, Thembisile Patekile. Dyanti takes office from 1st September. The call follows the deaths of 11 people in separate incidents across the province over the weekend. The Forum’s Abie Isaacs says Dyanti needs to improve intelligence gathering and adopt proactive policing strategies. He calls for the use of police helicopters and integration with military intelligence to disrupt criminal activity.
