Gauteng records 29% increase in cervical cancer screening [SOUND]

# The Gauteng Department of Health says cervical cancer screening increased by 29-percent during the 2025/26 financial year. More than 198-thousand women were screened, up from 153-thousand the previous year. Gauteng Health MEC Faith Mazibuko says screening empowers women to take charge of their health. The department spokesperson Steve Mabona says HPV vaccination and awareness programmes continue, urging eligible women to screen regularly and seek early medical attention:
