# Parliament’s Impeachment Committee has resolved to appeal the ruling of the Western Cape High Court on president Cyril Ramaphosa’s urgent application. Last week, the court agreed to halt the public hearings of the committee, pending the president’s review application against a Section 89 independent panel report. The African Transformation Movement, EFF, MK Party and United Africans Transformation have approached the Constitutional Court for leave to appeal the interdict. Committee chairperson, Makashule Gana, says they will take their appeal directly to the ConCourt as well:

# The Public Investment Corporation is seeking to appoint a qualified and experienced service provider to design, facilitate and implement culture transformation interventions informed by an internal culture survey. Among the deliverables are fostering psychological safety and trust, including facilitation of the employee-healing process and courageous conversations. The PIC says the scope of intervention should also include executive and leadership alignment, and behavioural change and adoption. The asset manager is in a crisis following the suspension of CEO Patrick Dlamini and the resignation of board chairperson David Masondo, and several non-executive directors.

# The National Consumer Commission has announced a safety recall for two-thousand-208 Toyota Urban Cruiser vehicles manufactured between 17 January and 3 June last year due to a faulty fuel gauge. The commission’s Phetho Ntaba says the defect could cause the fuel indicator to display more fuel than is actually in the tank, increasing the risk of the vehicle running out of fuel and stalling:

# The Electoral Commission’s chief electoral official, Sy Mamabolo, says the commission does not recognise Orania in the Northern Cape as a separate area for elections and will follow South Africa’s official municipal boundaries. Mamabolo has also confirmed that 2 and 3 November will be special voting days, with the main local government election taking place on 4 November:

# Iraq’s Ministerial Council for National Security has instructed the country’s Foreign Ministry to pursue legal action against the US and Saudi Arabia. This comes after the two countries launched strikes on Iran-backed militia in Iraq yesterday. The US Central Command stated that the strikes were against Iran-aligned terrorists that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps directed to attack American forces and Saudi energy infrastructure. At least 20 people were killed and 32 wounded in strikes on logistics and weapons sites. Iraq says it will confront any violation of its sovereignty.

# Golf: Experienced Ryder Cup player Padraig Harrington will step into a managerial role next year after being appointed one of Team Europe’s three vice captains. The 54-year-old Irishman is a three-time major champion who played in the competition six times already. Harrington and the Molinari brothers of Italy, Eduardo and Francesco, will be Englishman Luke Donald’s right-hand men at Adare Manor in Ireland, where Europe will bid for a third consecutive victory over Team USA.

# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-65-cents and the euro at 19-rand-10-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-27-cents and Bitcoin trades at 63-thousand-841-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-95-dollars-77-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 93-dollars-3-cents a barrel.
