# Doctors Without Borders says the emergency medical humanitarian response to anti-migrant violence has escalated into a humanitarian crisis at the South Africa-Zimbabwe border towns of Musina and Beitbridge. More than 68-thousand foreign nationals have been processed for repatriation or deportation in South Africa since June. MSF’s Caroline Masunda says they are concerned about access to healthcare disruptions and continuity of care for people living with chronic diseases such as HIV, TB, diabetes, hypertension and mental health conditions:

# The MK Party has criticised president Cyril Ramaphosa’s “swift acceptance” of Advocate Andrea Johnson’s resignation as the head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption. The president accepted her resignation following recommendations from minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, and National Director of Public Prosecutions Advocate Andy Mothibi. MK Party’s Mzwanele Manyi told Newzroom Afrika that Johnson’s resignation should not prevent allegations about her fitness for office from being formally investigated:

# Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, is calling on families of deceased public transport operators, including minibus and metered taxi operators, to come forward and apply for the transfer of valid operating licences. This is to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The department’s spokesperson, Lesiba Mpya, says the transfer of an operating licence is a statutory requirement that safeguards the integrity of the public transport regulatory system while protecting the rights of operators, commuters and beneficiaries:

# More than 160 people have been detained or questioned over deliberately starting fires in France since the sixth of this month. Some 220-thousand people have been evacuated in France and more than 100-thousand in Spain as firefighters battle to contain the wildfires amidst a heatwave. France’s Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, says the fires mostly stem from carelessness: a cigarette butt, a barbecue, or work carried out without precautions. He says that deliberately starting a fire is a crime punishable by 15 years’ imprisonment. No one has been charged yet.

# Soccer: Orlando Pirates dominated the Premier Soccer League Player Awards, after completing a historic domestic treble during the 2025/2026 season by winning the Premiership title, the MTN8 Cup, and the Carling Knockout Cup. Relebohile Mofokeng capped a sensational season with Pirates, winning footballer, players’ player and young player of the season awards. The Buccaneers claimed all the major individual categories, with Abdeslam Ouaddou named coach of the season, and Lebone Seema defender of the season. Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams, who died earlier this month, posthumously received the Chairman’s Award.

# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-79-cents and the euro at 19-rand-8-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-32-cents, and Bitcoin trades at 63-thousand-248-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-47-dollars-36-cents a fine ounce, and Brent crude oil is quoted at 89-dollars-78-cents a barrel.
