# Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and Infrastructure Development, Jacob Mamabolo, has commended Mogale City for the significant progress it has made in strengthening financial governance and improving its audit outcomes. Mogale City is one of only two municipalities in the province to commence the 2026/2027 financial year with a zero opening balance on unauthorised, irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure. The department’s spokesperson, Admire Ndaba, says the MEC has also noted the municipality’s ongoing efforts to reduce water losses:
