# The Forum for South Africa says organised crime figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala’s decision to withdraw from his plea and sentence agreement is a setback for transparency and accountability. After pleading guilty to charges of fraud, corruption and money laundering, in the plea deal Matlala was handed 15-years’ imprisonment, with seven years suspended, in connection with the 228-million-rand SAPS tender rigging case.
