# A UK murder suspect is arrested in Johannesburg

# Interpol and the Organised Crime Unit have arrested Zimbabwean-British citizen Mkhanyisi Tshuma, wanted by UK authorities for the alleged murder of his wife and two daughters. Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the 45-year-old was traced after an Interpol Red Notice was issued and detained five-days after entering South Africa. The motive remains unknown. She confirmed Tshuma expected appear in court on Monday as extradition proceedings begin:

# The MK Women’s League has voiced its support for former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, condemning the Legal Practice Council’s move to have her struck from the roll of advocates. It claims the application in the High Court in Pretoria is politically motivated and forms part of a campaign to target independent Black women in leadership. The league’s Lindi Mtshali says the women’s league stands firmly behind Mkhwebane and will mobilise its members to defend her.

# City Power says Alexandra remains under pressure as repeated electricity infrastructure failures continue, driven by overloading, illegal connections and low electricity purchases. The utility reports thousands of service calls across Johannesburg amid cold weather and rising demand. Several areas have seen transformer and substation failures, while restoration efforts continue. City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena says residents must support normalisation programmes, buy electricity legally and avoid overloading the network:

# North West police have arrested key suspects in the murder of community activist Thato Molosankwe. The anti-crime campaigner was shot dead at his home in Lomanyaneng village on 20 May. Police have not yet released the identities of those arrested or the charges they will face. The breakthrough follows weeks of intensive investigations into the killing, which sparked widespread calls for justice. The suspects are expected to appear in court soon as the investigation continues.

# Soccer: The South African Football Association has dismissed reports that Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has left his position. SAFA says the claims are false and that the Belgian remains in charge of the national team. Broos recently guided South Africa to a historic FIFA World Cup second-round appearance. The coach is currently in Belgium and is expected back in South Africa later this month. SAFA says it has not made any changes to the technical team. 

# And finally, Earthlife Africa Johannesburg says communities will gather in Jeffrey’s Bay this afternoon to voice their concerns about the proposed Thyspunt nuclear power plant in the Eastern Cape. Residents, environmental groups, fishers and tourism operators are expected to raise concerns about the project’s possible impact on livelihoods, the environment, water security, public safety and its long-term cost. The event also aims to encourage greater public participation, transparency and accountability before any final decisions are made.
