# Thousands of villagers and businesses seeking compensation over the Lesotho Highlands Water Project have suffered a setback after Lesotho’s Constitutional Court declined to hear their case. The court ruled that claims over delayed or unpaid compensation should instead be pursued through the High Court under existing legislation. However, the ruling does not dismiss the compensation claims. Affected communities remain free to seek damages through ordinary civil litigation over losses linked to the Katse, Mohale and Polihali dams.
