# The MK Party is reportedly under severe financial pressure, revoking all travelling allowances for its leaders ahead of the local government elections. According to News24, internal communications between party leader Jacob Zuma and new treasurer-general Brian Molefe inform all national officials, leagues, and recognised structures that all travel accommodation, car, and venue hire funded by the party are suspended until 26 July. Molefe says the focus is on debt management, refining the budget, and ensuring the party remains financially viable.

# The National Consumer Commission has issued an urgent nationwide alert as SPAR has recalled several yoghurt products. The recall affects SPAR Fat Free Yoghurt, Low Fat Yoghurt, Double Cream Yoghurt, Indulge Double Cream Yoghurt and SPAR Active Drinking Yoghurt products. The products have a sell-by date of 9 August 2026 and a use-by date of 12 August. Spokesperson Phetho Ntaba says the recall is due to a machine malfunction during production, resulting in product blowing:

# The City of Tshwane Council has resolved to institute disciplinary proceedings against suspended chief financial official Gareth Mnisi. He was implicated at the Madlanga commission for colluding with other senior officials in the metro to manipulate the awarding of tenders. It is alleged Mnisi used his position to steer tenders to his preferred bidders. Tshwane mayoral spokesperson, Samkelo Mgobozi, says Mnisi’s suspension will be lifted while disciplinary proceedings go ahead:

Moving abroad:

# The United Nations is concerned over the escalating deadly Russian drone and missile attacks on Ukrainian civilians. At least 265 civilians were killed and one-thousand-816 injured last month – the highest combined casualty ​count since shortly after Moscow’s full-scale invasion ‌in February 2022. Ukraine has also intensified attacks against Russia, targeting oil refineries. UN Political Affairs chief, Rosemary DiCarlo, says attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are a clear violation of international humanitarian law:

# Rugby: Rassie Erasmus will make history tomorrow, as he will oversee a record 55th Test as Springbok head coach when they take on Scotland in the Nations Championship at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria. He will stand alone at the top of the list of the number of Test matches coached since South Africa’s first Test match in 1891. Erasmus has reached the total in two spells, 2018 to 2019, and 2024 to the present day. The Boks have achieved a winning rate of 75.93-percent in Erasmus’ 54 matches in charge.
