Government institutions owe City Power more than R270-million

# City Power acting CEO, Charles Tlouane, says government institutions need to lead by example and honour their municipal payment obligations. Government institutions owe the power utility more than 270-million-rand, while total customer debt sits at 13.3-billion-rand. Public healthcare facilities account for a big chunk of the outstanding debt. Tlouane says City Power remains committed to resolving legitimate billing and account-related challenges through intergovernmental engagements. He adds that revenue collected from customers is also essential to fund maintenance, infrastructure refurbishment, operational costs and future network investment.
