Cape Town breaks ground on new Belhar housing project

# The City of Cape Town has officially broken ground on the Belhar infill housing project, which will provide 216 housing opportunities for qualifying beneficiaries. The development aims to bring residents closer to schools, healthcare, transport routes and job opportunities. Construction is expected to be completed in phases, with final houses ready by 2028. Mayoral committee member for Human Settlements, Carl Pophaim, says housing beneficiaries will be selected through the official allocation system to ensure fairness.
