# The City of Cape Town’s Energy Directorate says it has completed an electrification project in Langa’s Special Quarters informal settlement. This 1.6-million-rand project has connected 159 households to the electricity grid. Mayoral committee member for Energy, Xanthea Limberg, says the existing electrical network has been upgraded and strengthened to accommodate increased demand, while electricity supply infrastructure has been extended and equipment needed for electricity distribution installed:
