# Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, says her department has identified 54 priority roads for targeted maintenance and rehabilitation across the province. The provincial government is actively tackling congestion by upgrading road infrastructure and maintaining high construction standards. Diale-Tlabela says the department is moving away from temporary measures such as pothole patching, which is not a sustainable solution, and is instead implementing long-term interventions through road rehabilitation:
