23 fatalities recorded on the Western Cape roads in one week [SOUND]

# Twenty-three people died on Western Cape roads between June 30th and the sixth of July. This includes 15 pedestrians, four drivers, three passengers, and one motorcyclist. A total of 57 people were also arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Western Cape Mobility MEC, Isaac Sileku, says these figures serve as a sobering reminder that reckless behaviour on the roads continues to have devastating consequences:
