The 22-year-old defeated the Serb, 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 in Melbourne. Sinner could rise to a career-high of number three if he wins his first major title on Sunday, and Russia’s Daniil Medvedev loses to Germany’s Alexander Zverev in the other semifinal. Sinner says he believed he could beat the world number one:
# Rugby: Captain Selvyn Davids scored two tries as the Springbok Sevens began their Pool A campaign with a 24-7 victory over Canada at the Perth Sevens in Australia. South Africa recovered from conceding an early try to record a convincing win. David Brits and Tristan Leyds came off the bench to make their debuts for the Blitzboks. The Springbok Sevens will next face Spain in their final game of the day this afternoon, before taking on series leader Argentina tomorrow morning in their final pool match.
# Cricket: The Pretoria Capitals produced a clinical bowling performance to beat the Sunrisers Eastern Cape by three runs in their SA20 match in Centurion. Having been put in to bat the Capitals made just 125 in their 20 overs. In reply, Wayne Parnell and Adil Rashid took three wickets each to restrict the Sunrisers to 122 for nine. This win has lifted the Capitals off the bottom of the table for the first time this season. Pretoria Capitals player, Eathan Bosch, says they are still looking for the perfect game:

# And finally Motorsport: Charles Leclerc has signed a contract extension with Ferrari to remain with the team beyond this Formula One season, however, the length of the new contract is not confirmed. He joined the Scuderia as an academy driver back in 2016 and made his F1 debut with Sauber in 2018. Since joining Ferrari’s F1 team in 2019, Leclerc has taken 23 pole positions and five wins.
