# We kick off with rugby: Junior Springbok coach Kevin Foote has made several rotational changes to his starting line-up for today’s second Rugby Championship Under-20 match against Australia at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Gqeberha. The SA Under-20s managed to beat Argentina in the opening round, while Australia forced a late draw against New Zealand. Foote handed starts to JC Mars, Wandile Mlaba, Batho Hlekani and Herman Lubbe, who all played for the Junior Boks last year. The new halfback pairing has Ceano Everson at scrumhalf and Vusi Moyo at flyhalf.
# Cricket: Sunrisers Hyderabad’s hopes of reaching the Indian Premier League play-offs are over after rain washed out their match against Delhi Capitals. Capitals, who were asked to bat first, posted 133 for seven in their 20 overs, but rain prevented the players from returning to the field after the innings break. Both teams got one point each. Capitals remain in fifth place, but have closed the gap to fourth-placed Gujarat Titans to a single point.
# Tennis: Big rivals Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz could only meet in the final of the Italian Open, starting in the capital of Rome tomorrow. Local player Sinner retained his world number one ranking on his return from a three-month ban on Sunday, while the Spaniard is seeded third behind German Alexander Zverev. But there is still uncertainty over Alcaraz’s fitness after his withdrawal from the Madrid Masters. Both received byes in the first round and will only be in action from the second round.
# Motorsport: Formula One team, Alpine, is reportedly considering dropping Jack Doohan from the upcoming Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola in Italy. The 22-year-old rookie is yet to score points this season. The Australian was forced to retire from the Miami Grand Prix after a collision with Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson. Pierre Gasly has scored all seven of Alpine’s 2025 points so far. Reserve driver Franco Colapinto, who raced for Williams in nine races last year, is reportedly set to replace Doohan.
# And finally, two riders have died and another suffered significant injuries following an accident during a British Supersport Championship race at Oulton Park in Cheshire, England. Owen Jenner and Shane Richardson sustained fatal injuries in an 11-bike crash at the first corner of the opening lap. Tom Tunstall was transferred to the hospital with significant back and abdominal injuries, while five other riders were treated at the track for minor injuries. The Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board and MotorSport Vision Racing are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
