# We start with cricket: Only four matches remain in this year’s SA20. Tomorrow, the two teams at the top of the log, MI Cape Town and neighbours Paarl Royals, will face off in Gqeberha in the first qualifier. The winner will go straight through to Saturday’s final at the Wanderers and the loser will get another chance to reach the final in Thursday’s second qualifier in Centurion. The opponent will be the winner of Wednesday’s eliminator between Joburg Super Kings and defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, also in Centurion.
In other cricket news, the defending champions, India beat South Africa by nine wickets to win the Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup final in Kuala Lumpur. Nineteen-year-old Gongadi Trisha took three wickets as South Africa were restricted to 82 after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Trisha scored an unbeaten 44-off-33-balls in reply as India chased down the target in 11.2 overs. Trisha finished as the highest-run scorer of the tournament with 309 runs and was named the Player of the Match and the Player of the Tournament.
# Netball: South Africa narrowly defeated hosts England 61-59 at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham to remain the only unbeaten side in the Nations Cup. The two teams were level at the end of the first three quarters only for South Africa, ranked fifth, to pull away in the final 15 minutes and ultimately beat fourth-ranked England. South Africa won their opening match 75-40 against Uganda. England will face Uganda, while South Africa will take on Malawi in the final group fixtures on Saturday.
# Golf: South Africa’s Daniel van Tonder won the MyGolfLife Open by two shots at the Pecanwood Golf and Country Club in North West, his fourth Sunshine Tour title of the season. He closed with a 67 to end on 27 under par, claiming his second victory in as many weeks after winning the SDC Open. His compatriot Martin Vorster finished second with Australia’s Danny List third. And finally, more golf news is the four-time major champion, Rory McIlroy, has made a winning start to his PGA Tour season, with a two-shot victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California. The Northern Irishman finished with a six-under 66 to win on 21 under par, securing his 27th victory on the PGA Tour. Ireland’s Shane Lowry finished second while England’s Justin Rose finished tied third alongside American Lucas Glover. McIlroy says to win at one of the cathedrals of golf is special:
