# We kick off with rugby: The Sharks will look to add to their tally of victories over United Rugby Championship title-holders when they host the Stormers at Kings Park in Durban tomorrow. They beat Glasgow Warriors, and Munster who won the previous year. Back in the side are several Springboks – props Ox Nché and Vincent Koch, captain Siya Kolisi who will lead the side in the absence of the injured Eben Etzebeth, brothers Jaden and Jordan Hendrikse, Makazole Mapimpi, Lukhanyo Am, Aphelele Fassi and Grant Williams. Kick-off is at 5pm.
# Cricket: Harry Brook’s seventh Test hundred rescued England as the visitors finished on 319 for five on day two of the first Test against New Zealand in Christchurch. Brook and Ollie Pope shared a fifth-wicket partnership of 151 after England slumped to 71 for four in reply to New Zealand’s 348. Joe Root was out for a duck in his 150th Test match. Brook, who is unbeaten on 132, will look to build on his 97-run partnership with captain Ben Stokes tomorrow, as England trails by 29 runs.
# Tennis: French Open champion Iga Swiatek escaped with a one-month suspension for a positive doping test after convincing the International Tennis Integrity Agency that it had not been intentional. The Polish player tested positive for a prohibited substance in an out-of-competition sample in August. The agency accepted that the positive test was caused by contamination.
# Soccer: Manchester United made a winning start under new boss Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, defeating Bodo/Glimt three-two in the Europa League. Two goals from Rasmus Hojlund and one from Alejandro Garnacho boosted United’s chances of automatic qualification for the last 16. Chelsea made it four wins from four in the competition after beating Heidenheim two-nil, while Tottenham played to a two-all draw against Roma. Amorim says there are some improvements that he can see from his players:
# And finally, motorsport: British driver Lando Norris disagrees with Dutchman Max Verstappen’s belief that he would have won the Formula One world championship even if he was driving a McLaren or a Ferrari. The Red Bull driver clinched his fourth F1 world championship in Las Vegas last weekend with two rounds remaining in the season. McLaren’s Norris, who was Verstappen’s sole remaining challenger in the title race, says Red Bull had the fastest car in most races this season:
