# We start off with cricket: India defeated South Africa by eleven runs in the third T20 in Centurion, to take a two-one lead in the four-match series. Tilak Varma scored an unbeaten 107 off 56 balls as the visitors posted 219 for six after they were put in to bat first. The Proteas were restricted to 208 for seven in their 20 overs with allrounder Marco Jansen scoring 54. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets. The final T20 will be played at the Wanderers tomorrow.
# Tennis: The first match of the Billie Jean King Cup tournament in Málaga between hostesses Spain and Poland will now be played tomorrow after a red weather alert was issued for extreme rain and flooding in parts of the country. This follows after over 200 people were killed in recent floods, described as the worst in Spain’s history. Twelve countries are taking part in the women’s tournament in Andalusia. The last few days will overlap with the men’s Davis Cup Finals at the same venue.
# Motorsport: Formula One will kick off with an unusual event next season, when the sport celebrates its 75th anniversary. All ten teams and their drivers will converge on the O2 Arena in London on 18 February for a two-hour extravaganza. F1 CEO Stefano Dominicali says all 20 superstars of the sport, special guests and the fans will be brought together for the very first time. Ferrari is the only team to have been in the championship since 1950. The season starts in Melbourne, Australia, on 16 March.
# Soccer: Referees’ body PGMOL says it is aware of a new video that has surfaced of English Premier League referee David Coote. The 42-year-old was suspended on Monday after a video that appeared to show him making derogatory comments about Liverpool and their former manager Jurgen Klopp emerged. In the latest video, Coote is seen snorting a white powder while reportedly working at the European Championship as a match official earlier this year. The PGMOL says it is taking these allegations very seriously.
# And finally, boxing: Former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is facing criticism for returning to the ring at the age of 58. The American will fight 27-year-old Youtuber Jake Paul in a Netflix-backed bout in Arlington, Texas, tomorrow. They will face off over eight two-minute rounds. Tyson last fought professionally in 2005. Critics describe the bout as a macabre circus act with an unacceptable level of risk to Tyson, who will reportedly receive over 365-million-rand.
