Du Plessis successfully defended his middleweight world title with a fourth-round submission win over Nigerian-born New Zealander, Israel Adesanya, in Australia. The department’s spokesperson, Cassidy Rangata-Jacobs, says a delegation was dispatched to Perth to meet with UFC management to discuss the matter:
# Cricket: The West Indies have rested Andre Russell, Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph for the three-match T20 series against South Africa. Opening batter Brandon King will also miss this series as he continues to recover from a side strain. The first T20 will be played in Tarouba in Trinidad and Tobago on Friday.

The Italian won the sprint race on Saturday and the main race yesterday to move five points clear in the championship. Bagnaia says he executed everything well:
# Tennis: World number one Jannik Sinner will face American Frances Tiafoe in the Cincinnati Open final. The Italian defeated Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Tiafoe saved two match points on his way to a 4-6, 6-1, 7-6, victory over Denmark’s Holger Rune. In the women’s draw, world number three Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will take on American Jessica Pegula in the final. And, Carlos Alcaraz has apologised after smashing his racquet in fury during a second-round loss to Gael Monfils. The Spaniard, who currently owns both the French Open and Wimbledon titles, erupted in frustration at his game against the French veteran. The Spanish second seed called his 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 defeat the “worst match” of his career. But he took to Instagram to calm the waters as he prepares for the US Open.
