# We begin with Olympics: The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee says they are confident they have put the right building blocks in place for the Paris Games, which start on the 26th of July. The first 39 athletes to represent South Africa were announced last week, including Chad le Clos, Tatjana Smith, and Wayde van Niekerk. Sascoc vice president, Lwandile Simelane, says they have full confidence in the team:
# Rugby: The Sharks will contest their fifth cross-continental final when they face Gloucester in tomorrow’s Challenge Cup final in London. They reached four Super Rugby finals but lost all of them. Now they have a chance to win silverware in a new competition. Sharks director of rugby Neil Powel says they are ready for the decider:
# Cricket: Rajasthan Royals will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in tomorrow’s second qualifier of the Indian Premier League. Rajasthan beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru by four wickets in last night’s eliminator. They restricted RCB to 172 for eight and then reached the target with six wickets down and an over to spare. Tomorrow’s winner will face Kolkata Knight Riders in Sunday’s final. Rajasthan’s captain, Sanju Samson, has confidence in his team:
# Tennis: Andre Agassi has been announced as Team World’s new Laver Cup captain from next year. The American winner of eight Grand Slam titles will succeed his compatriot John McEnroe, who led the team since the competition started in 2017. Björn Borg of Sweden, who won Wimbledon five years in a row from 1976, is currently the captain of Team Europe, but Swiss legend Roger Federer is touted to replace him next year. Europe won the first four tournaments, and World the next two.
# And finally, golf: British teenager Kris Kim will make his debut in the DP World tour at the British Masters. The 16-year-old became the youngest player to make the cut on the PGA Tour in nine years during the CJ Cup Byron Nelson in Texas earlier this month. The British Open will be played at the Belfry in the last weekend of August. BBC Sport reports Kim has earlier impressed as a junior player, winning three tournaments and helping Europe to win the Junior Ryder Cup last year.
