Good afternoon. I am……..
In this bulletin:
# AfriForum is optimistic about the Department of Agriculture under Willie Aucamp
# The Forum for South Africa says South Africa’s education system continues to produce graduates without skills
# And, Soccer: AI researchers list the most attractive 2026 World Cup players based on facial proportions
# AfriForum says it’s optimistic about the agriculture sector following the DA’s proposed cabinet reshuffle in the government of national unity, which includes Willie Aucamp as the suggested new Agriculture minister. The organisation believes the possible change is a positive step in addressing the foot-and-mouth disease crisis, which has been poorly managed. AfriForum’s Lambert de Klerk says Aucamp, if appointed, would have an opportunity to correct past shortcomings and improve disease control:
# Suspended KwaZulu-Natal Hawks Brigadier Campbell Nyuswa has told the Madlanga Commission he doubts that a strong-room safe containing seized drugs was breached by grinding the door. Nyuswa said he suspected the scene may have been staged during the theft. Responding to the commission’s chairperson Mbuyiseli Madlanga, Nyuswa questioned why investigators did not obtain expert analysis to confirm how the damage occurred:
# The Forum for South Africa says the South Africa system continue to produce graduates without skills, qualifications without opportunities, and hope without direction. FOSA leader, Tebogo Mashilompane says the current education system is still not aligned with the realities of the people. He adds that South Africa must return to a system that values practical skills:
# Soccer: Over 54-million viewers in Canada, the US and Mexico tuned in for the host nations’ World Cup group matches so far. America’s opening match against Paraguay attracted 27.5-million viewers, the most-watched soccer match ever broadcast in the country. The president of world governing body FIFA, Gianni Infantino, describes the figures as historic, showing how the sport is truly uniting the world. He describes the atmosphere, energy and passion in the three countries as incredibly special.
# And World Cup players have now drawn attention for another reason. Artificial intelligence researchers compiled a list of the most attractive players based on golden face ratio. The closer a person’s facial features are to this ratio of 1.618-to-one, the more aesthetically balanced they are. However, the company who did the analysis emphasises it does not necessarily match the attractiveness perceived by the public. Argentinian Rodrigo de Paul is ranked first, while one of the world’s most image-conscious athletes, Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, is only ranked 45th.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-18-cents against the rand and the euro at 18-rand-75-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-68-cents and Bitcoin trades at 65-thousand-166-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-346-dollars-70-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 80-dollars-6-cents a barrel.
