# And motorsport: Ducati’s Marquez says he needs time to recover before getting back on the racetrack
# President Cyril Ramaphosa says land restitution is about restoring dignity and correcting historical injustice. The president led a title deed handover ceremony in Setlagole in the North West. Over 300 households in Setlagole and Madibogo received title deeds under government land reform programmes, while farmers were granted full ownership of previously leased state land. In his keynote address, Ramaphosa promised continued support and faster processing of outstanding claims:
# MK Party Member of Parliament Vusi Shongwe has been invited to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry probing allegations made by KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi. Shongwe told Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee that his testimony relates to a Durban meeting attended at the invitation of Crime Intelligence head Major-General Feroz Khan. Khan was recently arrested on charges linked to alleged violations of the Precious Metals Act:
# Parliament’s portfolio committee on Health has criticised the Interim Traditional Health Practitioners Council for failing to fully implement the Traditional Health Practitioners Act nearly two decades after it was passed. Committee chairperson Faith Muthambi says the absence of regulations, enforcement systems and a national practitioner register continues to expose communities to unsafe practices. Committee members also questioned the Council’s limited budget and lack of progress in integrating traditional medicine into broader healthcare reforms, including the National Health Insurance.
# Police in Brisbane made five arrests as they cleared a protest camp from the city park where the main stadium for the 2032 Olympics will be built. A coalition of environmentalists and Indigenous activists were warned they would be removed if they did not vacate the park. Site work for the 63-thousand-seat arena, the centrepiece of Australia’s third Olympics will begin on Monday, despite an outstanding application to the Australian government by Indigenous groups to protect the park in perpetuity as a “significant Aboriginal area”.
# Motorsport: Reigning MotoGP champion Marc Marquez played down expectations ahead of his return at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, saying he needs time to get back into top shape after undergoing two surgeries following a crash. Marquez missed the French Grand Prix race as well as the entire Catalan Grand Prix weekend after fracturing his foot in the crash at Le Mans. The Spaniard said his shoulder injury was his primary concern rather than his recent foot fracture. Marquez is currently ninth in the rider’s standing.
