# Deputy minister of Police Polly Boshielo expressed disappointment at the disbandment of the political killings task team, saying the decision lacked consultation and coordination. She was speaking to Parliament’s ad hoc committee on infiltration in the criminal justice system. Boshielo says she believes deputy ministers should have been involved. She adds she had viewed the working relationship with the task team as effective and collaborative, and was surprised by the sudden dissolution of the unit:
# Gauteng police have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of involvement in Saturday’s drive-by shooting in Reiger Park, in Boksburg. Acting provincial police commissioner Fred Kekana praised the anti-gang unit for their work. Police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says the suspect is set to appear in Boksburg Magistrate’s Court tomorrow:
# The Electoral Commission says the revised policy paper on electronic voting will soon be submitted to Parliament. This follows nationwide consultations and proposes a cautious, phased approach, including a hybrid system combining paper ballots with poll-site digital voting. Deputy chief electoral official Masego Sheburi told the media the system will not be used in next year’s local government elections:
# Golf: South Africa’s latest PGA Tour member, Christo Lamprecht, has confirmed his place in this year’s Mauritius Open as he looks to go one better than his runner-up finish last year. The 24-year-old will compete at the spectacular La Réserve Golf Links at Heritage Resorts from 18 December, having just secured his PGA Tour playing privileges for the new season. Lamprecht made a spectacular debut in last year’s tournament where he challenged for the title before finishing tied second, two shots behind champion John Parry of England.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-48-cents and the euro at 20-rand-10-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-84-cents and Bitcoin trades at 103-thousand-679-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-969-dollars-3-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 64-dollars-1-cents a barrel.
# And finally, after years in the running following his OBE in 2003, former England soccer captain and Manchester United star has now been honoured for his services to sport and charity when he was knighted by King Charles at an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle. Sir David grew up in northeast London, earned 115 caps playing for England, with 59 of those as captain, and scored 17 goals for his country. He played in three World Cups – in 1998, 2002 and 2006 – and two Euros, in 2000 and 2004:
