# And cricket: Australia announces its team to face to Proteas in the Test Championship final
# President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to meet with National Prosecuting Authority head Shamila Batohi following her remarks about the alleged infiltration of the NPA. Batohi recently claimed that some prosecutors may be working with criminals to deliberately sabotage cases, comments she later described as poorly worded. Ramaphosa said the meeting will give Batohi a chance to share her concerns and challenges:
The Centre for Development and Enterprise meanwhile calls on Ramaphosa to urgently set up a judge-led inquiry into the NPA following growing concern over its string of high-profile court losses. According to News24, the think tank says the inquiry should assess the NPA’s structure, leadership, and ability to prosecute major corruption cases. The centre’s director, Ann Bernstein, recommends a new independent process to appoint a successor when Batohi retires in January.
# Electricity and Energy minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says this week’s Africa Green Hydrogen Summit in Cape Town will unveil the Pan-African Green Hydrogen Report and strategy to drive energy innovation. Speaking in Kempton Park, Gauteng, Ramokgopa said solving the electricity crisis is key to economic growth. He emphasised confidence in South Africa’s technical ability, calling energy reform essential for unlocking jobs, industrialisation, and the green economy:
# AfriForum has slammed Forestry and Environment minister Dion George for staying silent on SANParks’ one-billion-rand tender scandal. A court recently found the information technology contract awarded by SANParks as unlawful and unconstitutional. AfriForum’s Lambert de Klerk says the silence signals complicity in corruption as no investigation has been launched. He says the civil rights group will intensify pressure for accountability and transparency in national park governance:
# Cricket: Marnus Labuschagne is set to open the batting alongside Usman Khawaja, while Josh Hazlewood has pipped Scott Boland to Australia’s team to face South Africa in the World Test Championship final at Lord’s from tomorrow. Hazlewood will partner Mitchell Starc and skipper Pat Cummins in the pace department. All-rounder Cameron Green returns to the side following a back surgery, while Beau Webster retains his spot in the team to provide the frontline bowlers some support with his medium pace. Play starts at 11:30 SA time.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-70-cents and the euro at 20-rand-23-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-94-cents and Bitcoin trades at 109-thousand-134-dollars.
