# A young man accused of killing Stellenbosch university student Jesse Mitchell, will stay in custody until Monday. Nineteen-year-old Rudolf Hufke appeared briefly in the local Magistrate’s Court today, facing murder and robbery charges. Mitchell was stabbed during a robbery on his 19th birthday. Three additional suspects have been arrested. The case was postponed due to technical issues.
# Rise Mzansi is demanding a dedicated, multi-disciplinary investigation into the recent spate of alleged food poisonings, which have led to several tragic deaths and hospitalisations of school children. Party spokesperson Gugu Ndima claims the recurring incidents, including a recent case where 25 learners from Mshuluzane Mayisela Primary School in Bronkhorstspruit, Gauteng, were hospitalised, are too frequent to be dismissed as isolated events caused by expired goods:
# The City of Tshwane has clarified that newl- elected ANC deputy mayor Eugene Modise’s municipal accounts are all current, with no outstanding debts. This follows allegations from the DA that the mayoral committee member for Finance owes the municipality 690-thousand-rand. The city’s Selby Bokaba says although disclosing personal municipal account information is typically against the law, an exception will be made in this case:
# Golf: American Will Zalatoris will make his debut at the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City from 5 to 8 December. The 28-year-old PGA Tour champion will join compatriot and defending champion Max Homa in the DP World Tour event. Zalatoris makes his debut in the tournament after he had to withdraw in 2022 as a result of injury. He finished in the top ten at The Masters this year and is ranked 59th in the world after two top-five finishes on the PGA Tour this year.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-55-cents and the euro at 19-rand-7-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-90-cents and Bitcoin trades at 68-thousand-105-dollars-83-cents. # And finally: Political critic and cartoonist Jonathan Shapiro, known as Zapiro, has teamed up with Pick ‘n Pay for a new T-shirt line celebrating the Springbok rugby team. The collection features designs from the past 30-years and will be available in 200 stores nationwide. Zapiro says he aims to unite South Africans through this collaboration, highlighting the sport’s role in post-apartheid unity.
