# ActionSA has launched the government of national unity’s performance tracker to monitor the coalition government. This tool will monitor and evaluate the government’s performance on key economic, social, and infrastructure issues, offering real-time updates. In a media briefing, ActionSA’s national chairperson Michael Beaumont says the tracker will empower citizens to assess the government’s progress and failures and push for the necessary reforms:
# The South African Zionist Federation has urged the Department of International Relations and Cooperation to intervene against the proposed renaming of Sandton Drive after Palestinian politician Leila Khaled. They believe this change violates the Diplomatic Immunities and Privileges Act because Khaled is associated with a group classified as a terrorist organisation by the United States. The federation’s spokesperson, Rolene Marks, urges DIRCO to object to the proposal before Friday’s deadline:
# Police have arrested 14-thousand-715 suspects during Operation Shanela in the past week. This includes two-thousand-990 wanted suspects, including 84 for rape and 30 for murder. The operation also seized 127 firearms and recovered 83 stolen vehicles. Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk highlighted the arrest of a drug mule in Ethiopia and a 25-million-rand cocaine bust at OR Tambo Airport:
# Rugby: The Springboks are set to host Italy in a two-Test series as well as a Tier Two country in the middle of next year. The Azzurri is currently eighth in the world rankings after a good year, including two Six Nations victories. The world champions will then play the Wallabies twice in South Africa, and the All Blacks twice in New Zealand, together with a home and away Test against Argentina as part of the Rugby Championship. The venues have not been confirmed.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-54-cents and the euro at 19-rand-14-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-88-cents and Bitcoin trades at 65-thousand-291-dollars-34-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-648-dollars-84-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 77-dollars-57-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Never-before-heard tapes from Jimi Hendrix will be sold at auction next month, 54 years after the rock star’s death. The 1968 demos of around seven minutes are understood to be versions of Up From The Skies, Ain’t No Telling, Little Miss Lover and Stone Free. Each one is expected to make hundreds of thousands of pounds. Other items up for sale include payslips for Hendrix and his band members, a handwritten form by the musician requesting his birth certificate, and various receipts that detail his personal life.
Stay tuned for more news………….
