# The principal of the Pretoria High School for Girls has been suspended. EFF and ANC supporters protested outside the school today. Addressing the media, Gauteng MEC for Education, Matome Chiloane confirmed that eight of the twelve learners implicated for alleged racism were prefects, assuring that their duties and privileges have been revoked. He said the deputy principal will act as principal during the suspension, pending the final disciplinary judgment:
# Former ANC national executive committee member, Tony Yengeni, says former president Jacob Zuma will not accept his expulsion from the party quietly. Yengeni, who represented Zuma at his disciplinary hearing, claims the process was unfair. Zuma was expelled for discrediting the ANC after endorsing the MK Party. Yengeni told the SABC he believes Zuma is determined to deal with the matter:
# The Department of Agriculture plans to donate livestock and feed to Eastern Cape farmers who have lost their sheep. Up to 184 sheep died due to veld fires in some villages in Qumbu. Deputy minister of Agriculture Zoleka Capa visited affected farmers, and highlighted her department’s efforts to help mitigate the effects of the fires:
# Rugby: The Rugby Championship gets under way next Saturday with Australia hosting South Africa in Brisbane, and then New Zealand welcoming Argentina to Wellington. The Wallabies have a new coach in Joe Schmidt and he has a perfect record after three games. Two victories over Wales was followed by a win over Georgia. But Schmidt says facing the Springboks will be a whole new challenge.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-38-cents and the euro at 19-rand-86-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-57-cents and Bitcoin trades at 66-thousand-334-dollars-52-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-390-dollars-35-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 78-dollars-15-cents a barrel.
# And finally, today marks the Tenth World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, emphasising the theme Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking. According to the United Nations, children represent a significant proportion of trafficking victims, with one in three victims globally being a child. Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, and Latin America see the highest rates, where children make up 60-percent of detected victims. The UN has emphasised efforts to address the root causes of child trafficking, improvement of child protection, and eradication of online exploitation.
