# The NPA is to resubmit the Guptas extradition request to the United Arab Emirates
# Floyd Shivambu claims he was removed from the MK Party over false allegations of plotting against Jacob Zuma
# And rugby: Star back player Joseph Suaalii is fit to play for the Wallabies against Fiji
# The National Prosecuting Authority will resubmit an extradition request for the Gupta brothers to the United Arab Emirates. Speaking in Parliament, head of the Investigating Directorate, Andrea Johnson, confirmed 12 unanswered diplomatic notes. Despite prior vetting, the UAE asked for a fresh application. Johnson told Parliament that additional charges will be included. She says thus far, only 83 convictions have been secured by the NPA of three-thousand Special Investigating Unit-referred corruption cases:
# Former MK Party secretary-general Floyd Shivambu says he was removed from his position based on false claims that he was plotting to oust party leader Jacob Zuma. Shivambu added a fake intelligence report accused him of working with outsiders to take control of the party. He believes his removal was the result of internal power struggles and misinformation spread by people close to the former president:
# The ANC has called for unity and compassion as communities in the Eastern Cape begin to rebuild after the deadly floods. The party expressed deep sympathy to the families of the over 90 people who lost their lives, including 30 children, and the thousands of residents affected. ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu welcomed the declaration of a state of disaster, urging South Africans to stand together in support of those affected:
# Iran says the main target of a missile attack in which a hospital in southern Israel was hit was a military and intelligence base, not the health facility. The hospital and two towns near Tel Aviv were struck during a barrage of Iranian missiles, with Israeli rescuers reporting at least 47 people injured in Iran’s latest attacks. Iran says the hospital was exposed only to the blast wave, and the direct and precise target was the military facility.
# Rugby: Young star back player Joseph Suaalii was declared fit to play for the Wallabies against Fiji and the British and Irish Lions. The 21-year-old was included in Australia’s squad after recovering from a fractured jaw. The match against Fiji in Newcastle on the sixth of next month is the Wallabies’ only warm-up before the three Tests against the visiting Lions, starting on 19 July. Experienced James O’Connor, Samu Kerevi and Marika Koirobete were left out of coach Joe Schmidt’s 36-man squad for the Fiji clash.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-1-cent and the euro at 20-rand-75-cents. One British pound costs 24-rand-29-cents and Bitcoin trades at 104-thousand-720-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-365-dollars-89-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 76-dollars-13-cents a barrel.
