# The pig farm murder case bail hearing is postponed
# And rugby: A Wallabies utility back is linked to a move to the NFL
# The MK Party has filed an urgent application against the Judicial Service Commission, seeking to delay judges’ interviews set for next week. The party argues the JSC’s refusal to postpone the interview, is unconstitutional. They believe the participation of fired judge John Hlophe is vital for the proper composition of the commission, despite the High Court in the Western Cape prohibiting his involvement. The case will be heard at the High Court in Johannesburg on Friday.
# The bail hearing of three men accused of murdering two women on a farm in Limpopo and feeding their bodies to pigs, has been postponed to 6 November. Farmer Zachariah Olivier, farm supervisor Adriaan de Wet, and employee William Musora appeared in the Polokwane Regional Court this morning for the murders of Mariah Makgato and Lucia Ndlovu. Their bail applications were delayed pending a High Court decision on access to case documents, and the case has been referred back to the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.
# The DA in Tshwane is calling for an urgent investigation into suspected sabotage at the Pyramid substation, where a fire caused serious damage this morning. During an oversight visit, they found broken locks, damaged doors, and vital control panel cables being vandalised. The DA’s Themba Fosi believes this may be financially motivated, as contractors could benefit from the repairs. He demands accountability and transparency in uncovering any possible collusion:
# The South African Zionist Federation has condemned Iran’s missile attack on Israel, calling it a dangerous escalation. The federation has criticised the South African government for their silence on the issue. The federation’s Rolene Marks has urged government to denounce this act of war. She also highlighted Iran’s destabilising role in the Middle East and emphasised Israel’s right to self-defense:
# Rugby: Under-fire Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt will probably lose the services of utility back Jordan Petaia for next year’s series against the British and Irish Lions. He reportedly turned down various lucrative offers from European clubs to pursue his dream to play in the National Football League. Petaia will attend a development camp in Florida early next year after his current contract with the Reds expires in November. The 24-year-old played 31 Tests for Australia since making his debut during the 2019 World Cup in Japan.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-36-cents and the euro at 19-rand-20-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-5-cents and Bitcoin trades at 60-thousand-818-dollars-34-cents.
