# The MK Party welcomes Mzwanele Manyi and Floyd Shivambu from the EFF
# Donald Trump has lost his latest bid for a new judge in his hush money criminal case
# And, cricket: The SA20 is starting to attract the big guns
# The MK Party has confirmed that former EFF members Mzwanele Manyi and Floyd Shivambu have joined their ranks. The party welcomes these experienced leaders, believing their addition will bolster the progressive caucus and advance its revolutionary agenda. MK spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela says Manyi and Shivambu will be assigned roles based on their expertise. Ndhlela urges party members to back their new comrades to achieve the emancipation of marginalised communities.
EFF leader Julius Malema meanwhile warns the resignation of Shivambu, the party’s co-founder and deputy president, might lead to further departures from the party. In his media address, Malema, reflecting on Shivambu’s exit after eleven years, stated that while the EFF’s constitution does not allow rejoining from other parties, Shivambu is welcome to return if he decides to. He urged members to stay united and strengthen the party during this critical period:
# The City of Tshwane says nearly one-thousand vehicles were towed last month, generating an additional two-million-rand in revenue. This surge in towing activity highlights improved operational efficiency and professionalism. Motorists are urged to park legally to avoid fines. Mayoral committee member for Community Safety, Grandi Theunissen says complaints about Tshwane Metro Police Department officials have dropped, reflecting better accountability:
# Donald Trump has lost his latest bid for a new judge in his New York hush money criminal case. The case is now heading towards a key ruling and potential sentencing next month. Judge Juan Merchan said Trump’s demand was a rehash rife with inaccuracies and unsubstantiated claims about his impartiality. It’s the third time Merchan has rejected such a request from the former president’s lawyers. They claim the judge has a conflict of interest because his daughter works as a political consultant for prominent Democrats, including Kamala Harris.
# Cricket: The SA20 is gaining more and more star players, with Johannesburg-born New Zealand batter Devon Conway committing to next year’s third season. This follows England captain Ben Stokes’s announcement he will join M-I Cape Town next year. Conway has reportedly signed a casual agreement with New Zealand Cricket, similar to that of captain Kane Williamson, that would ensure he could take up a SA20 deal. ESPNcricinfo reports he is set to play for Joburg Super Kings, while Williamson joined Durban’s Super Giants.
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-7-cents and the euro at 19-rand-81-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-17-cents and Bitcoin trades at 58-thousand-981-dollars-90-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-442-dollars-47-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 80-dollars-57-cents a barrel.
