# Israeli police have dismantled a South African human trafficking ring, rescuing five South African women from forced prostitution in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. According to News24, three women were found during a raid on a brothel in Jerusalem in June, leading to further discoveries in Tel Aviv where two more women were rescued. Four South Africans and a Nigerian-South African dual national have been arrested, with further arrests expected. The victims reported severe abuse and mistreatment.
# The Pretoria High School for Girls has announced that twelve learners suspended for alleged racism have been found not guilty of misconduct. The ruling came from a three-person panel chaired by an advocate who held a disciplinary hearing on the matter this week. The school confirmed the learners’ prefect status will be reinstated, and emphasises that the disciplinary process was fair and transparent, with valuable lessons learned.
# The Electoral Commission has been commended for its financial probity after achieving a fourth consecutive clean audit in the 2023/’24 financial year. The Auditor-General’s assessment of both the commission and party funding highlighted strong internal controls and adherence to regulations. The commission’s David Mandaha says these clean audits reflect the IEC’s commitment to high standards in both elections and business practices:

The Sharks are apparently keen to have him back.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-13-cents and the euro at 19-rand-76-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-24-cents and Bitcoin trades at 64-thousand-738-dollars-52-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-461-dollars-62-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 77-dollars-96-cents a barrel.
# And finally, the Department of Health is urging the public to embrace the gift of life through organ and tissue donation to save or improve someone’s quality of life. It is estimated that over two-thousand-500 people are on the active waiting list for organ and tissue donation, while others die while waiting to receive a life-saving gift. The department’s spokesperson, Foster Mohale, says one donor can save up to seven lives:
