# Deputy Transport minister Nkhululeko Hlengwa says government is looking at changing the way the Road Accident Fund is financed. He supports a hybrid model, which could mean cutting or even scrapping the current fuel levy, while bringing in other sources of funding. These could include third-party vehicle insurance and travel insurance for foreign visitors. The RAF currently receives two-rand-27-cents from every litre of fuel sold. Hlengwa says the current funding model is unsustainable and requires urgent reform to ensure the fund remains financially viable.
# A kidnapped man has been rescued unharmed, and five suspects arrested after an intelligence-driven operation linked to a case at Johannesburg Central SAPS. The un-named man was allegedly kidnapped in the Johannesburg CBD on 30 August, with a 32-million-rand ransom demanded. Police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi says a team of Central detectives, Crime Intelligence, Anti-Kidnapping unit, Flying Squad and private security traced three men found with the phone allegedly used for ransom calls:

The four-member leadership team will be headed by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. The task force will examine the risks and opportunities presented by A-I and recommend what role the federal government should play. It will also engage technology companies, public-interest groups and other organisations. The panel has 120 days to produce its report and will report directly to Trump and his chief of staff.
# Soccer: South African winger Relebohile Mofokeng is attracting interest from several European clubs following his impressive start at Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise in Brussels. Transfer expert Ekrem Konur says Chelsea, Brighton, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are monitoring the 21-year-old. Mofokeng joined Union from Orlando Pirates in July for a reported 65.5-million-rand fee. He has made an impact in the Belgian league and Europa League, while scoring twice for Bafana Bafana in their recent five-nil victory over Eritrea.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-63-cents and the euro at 18-rand-63-cents. One British pound costs 21-rand-98-cents and Bitcoin trades at 86-thousand-42-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-156-dollars-85-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 106-dollars-10-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Missing in Southern Africa says bikers, police, emergency responders and community groups united in Johannesburg for a run in aid of missing children, held at Turffontein Primary School in honour of Milano Tladi, who was two when he went missing on the 30th of June. His parents, Monique and Thebogo Tladi, attended. Spokesperson Priya Ranchod says a convoy rode to Glenesk where Milano was last seen:
