# KwaZulu-Natal police have revealed that businessman Stuart Scharnick is linked to 29 criminal dockets across the province, mostly involving vehicle theft and carjackings. # The 2025 Responsible Gambling Summit in Johannesburg is focusing on South Africa’s growing online betting crisis and weak regulation. Moving abroad:
# The Australian state of Victoria signed into law the country’s first treaty with indigenous people. It is hailed by advocates as a major step towards reconciliation by giving first inhabitants more oversight on decisions that concern them. The treaty, which will take effect on December 12, delivers a formal apology to Australia’s First Nations people and establishes a permanent representative body to provide advice to the Victorian government. It requires a formal apology from the government to indigenous people for historical injustices.
# Rugby: Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus rang the changes for Saturday’s Test against Italy in Turin. There are 12 changes to the squad that broke French hearts with a convincing 32-17 victory in the Stade de France in Paris last weekend. The only players remaining in the starting-15 are captain Siya Kolisi, prop Boan Venter, winger Kurt-Lee Arendse and fullback Damian Willemse. Kwagga Smith returns to the bench in place of Johan Grobbelaar, who will wear the number two-jersey. Kick-off is at 2.40 Saturday afternoon.
