# A state witness has been fatally shot inside the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court in Cape Town this morning. The victim was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds. No arrests have yet been made. Police have opened a murder case, and the motive behind the attack is under investigation.
# President Cyril Ramaphosa says the police summit is critical in safeguarding the nation’s security, urging a proactive, innovative, and solutions-oriented approach. Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of the Batho Pele principles, focusing on high service standards and empathy. He stressed that crime stems from broader societal issues like poverty and inequality, and commended the summit for fostering a holistic approach involving various stakeholders to address the root causes of crime:
# Billionaire Elon Musk has reportedly asked Donald Trump to reverse his tariffs. Citing two sources, Washington Post re[ports the exchange marks the highest profile disagreement between the Tesla CEO and the US president. Musk’s pleas followed Trump’s unveiling of a 10-percent baseline tariff on all imports to the US and higher duties on dozens of other countries last week. Musk, who heads the US Department of Government Efficiency, previously called for zero tariffs between the US and Europe. He indicated the impact of car tariffs on Tesla was significant.
# Golf: Fifteen-time major champion Tiger Woods has partnered with the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia to design a new nine-hole short course. Woods’ architecture firm, TGR Design, will create the new course as part of the renovation of the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. Additionally, Woods’ TGR Foundation will open its fourth Learning Lab in Augusta, providing access to science, technology, engineering, arts and maths. Woods, who won five Masters, says he is excited to see both projects become a reality:

# And finally: Only five-percent of the national healthcare budget is allocated to mental health services, despite one-third of South Africans experiencing a mental health condition, and more than 27-percent is affected by depression. This is according to Stellenbosch University professor, Renata Schoeman. She says limited access, stigma and an underfunded system leave millions without support, exacerbating the burden on hospitals and emergency services:
