# ActionSA’s Nasiphi Moya has been elected as the new mayor of Tshwane. She secured 122 votes, defeating the former mayor, the DA’s Cilliers Brink, who received 86 votes. Moya, previously the deputy mayor, was backed by the ANC and other political parties after Brink was removed in a no-confidence motion earlier. The minister highlighted the strengthened infrastructure to streamline projects, tackle corruption, and initiate investigations into failed ventures like the Telkom Building in the Tshwane inner city. Macpherson also addressed state property misuse, tackled the construction mafia, and filled critical department vacancies. He emphasised the need to accelerate efforts, turning South Africa into a construction site to boost the economy and create jobs.

Sinner beat American Ben Shelton 6-4, 7-6 while Alcaraz took revenge on French veteran Gaël Monfils, who beat him in Cincinnati in August. Alcaraz also won in straight sets. Russian Daniil Medvedev eliminated Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece to set up a quarterfinal clash with Sinner.
