# Deputy president Mashatile urges the global youth to lead inclusive development at the G20 roundtable

# Deputy president Paul Mashatile has called on young people to lead the way in building a more inclusive and sustainable world. Speaking at the G20 youth roundtable in Sandton, Gauteng, he said youth must be active in decision-making and not just seen as beneficiaries. Mashatile urged investment in education, digital skills, and support for youth-owned businesses. He also confirmed government’s backing of a new trade agreement that includes youth and women:
# The Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition will launch two e-commerce platforms next Tuesday. The platforms will be hosted by ProudlySA and will offer locally made products to consumers. ProudlySA says this will support small, medium, and micro enterprises. One platform will help corporate buyers find local suppliers, while the other will help consumers find the products they need. The department says the platforms will offer quality products made in South Africa.
# The DA in the Western Cape is urging residents to remain vigilant and assist authorities in protecting local schools from vandalism and theft during the holidays. Schools closed for the winter break today. The DA’s Leon van Wyk says during the March school holidays, 26 incidents of burglary and vandalism were reported at 21 schools across the province. He says the total cost of damages and losses amounted to more than 230-thousand-rand:
# Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Foreign ministers are expected to sign a historic peace treaty in Washington today, witnessed by US secretary of State, Marco Rubio. The agreement, brokered by Qatar and the US, includes joint security coordination, the disarmament of armed groups, and refugee returns. Technical teams signed the draft on last week. Implementation and compliance remain key to lasting peace. The agreement has however come under scrutiny for its vagueness, including on the economic component.
# On to sports news: The International Olympic Committee has decided to pause the host election process for future Summer and Winter Games. This follows a two-day executive board meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland. IOC president Kirsty Coventry says they will set up a working group to look into the bidding process and the proper time of host selection for the Games:
# And the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-89-cents and the euro at 20-rand-96-cents. One British pound costs 24-rand-57-cents and Bitcoin trades at 107-thousand-73-dollars. Gold sells at three-thousand-386-dollars-36-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 66-dollars-76-cents a barrel.
