# BOSA has called on Finance minister Enoch Godongwana to resist a budget that signals no positive change, and instead boldly prioritise economic growth, job creation, and fiscal responsibility to kickstart progress and change. The party says the choices made in this budget must reflect the urgent realities of the people. BOSA’s spokesperson, Roger Solomons says the fiscal and spending priorities must not serve political convenience but the fundamental task of economic transformation:
# The Public Servants Association in KwaZulu-Natal is calling for justice as a memorial for 25-year-old medical intern Alulutho Mazwi is held today at Prince Mshiyeni Hospital. Mazwi, who had diabetes, collapsed and died at work last week. Health Ombud Taole Mokoena has launched an investigation into the matter. PSA KZN provincial manager, Mlungisi Ndlovu, says accountability and proper treatment for all medical practitioners is urgently needed:
# Nissan has clarified that recent reports about potential plant closures are speculative and not based on official company information. While the automaker is restructuring globally, no specific plants have been confirmed for closure. Spokesperson Ramy Mohareb, says in South Africa, Nissan continues to expand its offerings, recently launching the locally developed Navara PRO-4X Warrior by Premcar and unveiling the Navara Stealth at NAMPO. The new Patrol is also slated for release later this year.
# French authorities have launched a major operation to crack down on the use of miniature mobile phones in prisons nationwide, searching 66 jails across the country in a bid to seize thousands of the devices. The operation, called “Prison Break”, aims to seize miniature telephones put into circulation by a Chinese company and resold in France. The use of the devices was blamed for lawlessness in prisons, with detainees still masterminding drugs deals while behind bars.
# Rugby: The Cheetahs have said farewell to six players whose contracts conclude at the end of June. In an emotional gathering, teammates and staff honoured the contributions of these players who proudly wore the orange jersey. They are Schalk Ferreira, Jeandré Rudolph, Andisa Ntsila, Laurence Victor, Robert Hunt and Andell Loubser. The union wished them well in their future endeavours.
