# Government confirms Janusz Waluś’ deportation after his parole period ends

# Minister in the Presidency, Khumbudzo Ntshavheni, has confirmed the deportation of the man convicted of assassinating SACP leader Chris Hani in 1993, Janusz Waluś, following the end of his parole period. Waluś was granted parole by the Constitutional Court in 2022 and his parole period expires today. Ntshavheni told the media since Waluś no longer holds South African citizenship, the Department of Home Affairs is handling his deportation to his fatherland, Poland:
# Government is encouraging interested citizens to apply for mining rights or permits and refrain from any form of illegal mining. It says a mine must get permission from the Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources by getting a right or permit to carry out the activity. The granting of rights and permits associated with mining is governed by the Minerals and Petroleum Resources Development Act. Government introduced the artisans and small-scale mining policy in 2022 to fully formalize and regulate the mining sector.
# South African National Parks is ramping up security at Kruger National Park during this festive season. Enhanced measures include vehicle spot checks, number plate recognition, and increased ranger patrols. The SANParks Environmental Crime Investigation Unit will collaborate with law enforcement agencies to tackle crime, including poaching and snaring. The initiative also involves working with Mozambican authorities to curb cross-border poaching. SANParks encourages visitors to remain vigilant and secure their vehicles while enjoying the park.
# Rugby: Members of the South African Rugby Union rejected a proposal to accept a private equity investment in the sport’s commercial rights. The proposal failed to reach the needed 75-percent majority after being opposed by seven of the 13 member unions. The preferred bidder, the Ackerley Sports Group, now has until the end of the month to make a revised offer. SARU president Mark Alexander says the union’s goal remains to secure a sustainable and prosperous future for the sport on both the national and international stages.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-4-cents and the euro at 19-rand-6-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-99-cents and Bitcoin trades at 98-thousand-78-dollars. Gold sells at two-thousand-636-dollars-78-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 71-dollars-22-cents a barrel.

Motorists are reminded to obey road rules and avoid driving under the influence.
