# Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi has promised to strengthen regulations for spaza shops after six children died from contaminated food in Naledi, Soweto. He was briefing the media on his 100-days in office in the seventh administration. Lesufi announced that food inspectors will be deployed across the province to ensure safety standards and proper registration of spaza shops, aiming to prevent future incidents:
# Tshwane mayor Nasiphi Moya has announced a 100-day action plan to address the city’s financial and service delivery crisis. Key goals include financial stability, economic revitalisation, infrastructure development, equitable service delivery, by-law enforcement, and improved community engagement. # More than 50 people were killed in flash floods in the vicinity of Valencia in southeastern Spain, while dozens remain missing. This followed torrential rains and hailstorms that flooded roads and towns, sweeping vehicles away and damaging buildings. People were advised to stay at home and only travel in case of emergency. According to the Spanish Weather Service, a total of 491 millimetres of rain was recorded in the region within eight hours. This is the equivalent of a year’s worth of rain.
