# The ANC’s Archives committee says repatriation efforts will continue to honour South Africa’s liberation heroes. Forty-two mortal remains were repatriated this week as part of the Resistance and Liberation Heritage Route project. It also forms part of Heritage Month ceremonies. Committee member Obed Bapela says this initiative faces challenges in some countries, but efforts continue to bring heroes home:
# The DA has welcomed a ruling by the Western Cape High Court granting an urgent interdict preventing the MK Party’s parliamentary leader, John Hlophe, from joining the Judicial Service Commission. DA national spokesperson, Karabo Khakhau, hails this as a victory for judicial integrity. She says this reinforces South Africa’s commitment to maintaining an independent and ethical judiciary:
# South Africa’s 199-billion-rand donor-funded climate plan has spent 32-billion-rand on expanding the power grid and preventing coal region decline as it shifts to renewables. Funding comes from countries like Britain, France, and Germany. The remaining funds are expected to be invested in a planned green hydrogen hub and skills training. Despite improvements in reforms, including opening Eskom’s monopoly, the slow transition has been characterised by internal politics, and concerns over coal job losses.
# Cricket: Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has announced his retirement from the professional game after 21 years. Earlier this week, his farewell campaign in the Caribbean Premier League was cut short when he suffered a groin injury. The 40-year-old retires as the leading wicket-taker in the T20 format, with 631 wickets in 582 appearances. Bravo has now joined the Indian Premier League’s defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, as a mentor from next year’s season.

Gold sells at two-thousand-666-dollars-93-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 71-dollars-24-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Production has started on singer, actress, director, and producer, Barbra Streisand’s multi-part documentary about her life and career. The documentary will include hundreds of hours of personal, never-before-seen videos, photographs, audio recordings, and personal keepsakes from throughout her acclaimed career. Streisand says for years she has been thinking about the best way to share the vast amount of content she has been safely storing in her vault. Last year, she released her 970-page memoir titled My Name Is Barbra.
