# Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has delivered his final judgement in the Constitutional Court before his retirement at the end of the month. The case involved an application by Molefi Jonas Mamasedi of the South African National Defence Force’s tank regiment for condonation and leave to appeal against a Supreme Court of Appeal ruling involving SANDF chief, Solly Shoke, and other Defence officials:
# Police are searching for suspects following the discovery of two bodies and a shooting victim on a farm at Sebayeng in Limpopo. The bodies of a 45-year-old South African woman and a 35-year-old foreign national were found after a search was initiated when the South African woman was reported missing on Saturday. Spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that both women had gunshot wounds. Ledwaba says the wounded man has been hospitalised:
# Build One South Africa’s deputy leader, Nobuntu Hlazo-Webster, says they have asked the speaker of the National Assembly, Thoko Didiza, for a debate in Parliament to consider the National Register of Sexual Offenders and the subsequent impact it has on the protection of women and girls in South Africa. BOSA’s acting spokesperson, Roger Solomons, says as the legislative arm of government, Parliament has a duty to protect the most vulnerable in society from abuse:
# Rugby: Argentinian coach Felipe Contepomi recalled experienced lock Guido Petti to his squad for the first time since last year’s World Cup. He was included in the group of 34 players for the two Rugby Championship Tests against Australia at home. Petti replaces 20-year-old Efrain Elias, who played his first Test in the recent victory over the All Blacks in Wellington. Loose forward Santiago Grondona is also back after being injured in the Pumas’ final World Cup warm-up match.
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 17-rand-81-cents and the euro at 19-rand-80-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-22-cents and Bitcoin trades at 59-thousand-435-dollars-84-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-507-dollars-67-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 77-dollars-27-cents a barrel.
# And finally, the South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow level 3 warning for a storm surge in the Western Cape and the Northern Cape’s Namakwa area today. The storm, combined with high waves and strong winds, is expected to increase water levels. The service also warns that it will cause a significant threat to coastal communities and infrastructure. Localised flooding is expected and residents are advised against beachfront activities
