In this bulletin:
# The SABC will defend the term government of national unity in court
# TLU SA says farmers want fundamental change, not a sugar-coated version of ANC ideology
# And, rugby: Three Bok stalwarts face long lay-offs due to injury
# The SABC will defend its use of the term ‘government of national unity’ against legal action by the MK Party. MK leader Jacob Zuma argues the term misleads the public and is unconstitutional. In response to a cease and desist letter from MK, SABC group executive Moshoeshoe Monare confirmed the public broadcaster’s stance, calling the allegations unwarranted and the complaint meritless. The High Court hearing is set for August.
# The agriculture organisation TLU SA says farmers expect Agriculture minister John Steenhuisen to correct the course where the ANC’s destructive ideological stance derailed agriculture. General manager Bennie van Zyl says South African voters made it clear during the election that the ANC’s direction is unacceptable. He says there is great concern if the government of national unity continues on the destructive path of the ANC’s policy direction:
# ActionSA has rejected accusations of xenophobia following its call for urgent intervention in South Africa’s illegal immigration crisis. During the Home Affairs budget vote debate, the party emphasised that decades of government mismanagement have led to porous borders. ActionSA chief whip Lerato Ngobeni argues the influx of illegal migrants, drug syndicates, and organised crime impacts the poorest South Africans:
# Experts from various medical fields, owed for up to seven years by the Road Accident Fund, have appealed to Transport minister Barbara Creecy for urgent intervention. They accuse the RAF of negligence, citing unpaid claims totaling over 150-million-rand. Despite their crucial role in court assessments, the RAF denies liability, alleging improper engagements by former attorneys. The medical practitioners claim this has led to financial ruin, urging the ministry to address the fund’s failures urgently.
# Rugby: Springbok management has confirmed three stalwarts face long lay-offs due to injury. Pieter-Steph du Toit, Malcolm Marx and Franco Mostert all sustained serious injuries during the second Test against Ireland. Mostert will be out for about six months with a broken leg, while Marx and Du Toit will sit out for up to six weeks and will probably miss the start of the Rugby Championship. The Boks play the Wallabies twice in Australia, the All Blacks twice in South Africa, and Argentina away and at home.
# And, the financial indicators: The dollar trades at 18-rand-16-cents and the euro at 19-rand-87-cents. One British pound costs 23-rand-68-cents and Bitcoin trades at 65-thousand-179-dollars-64-cents. Gold sells at two-thousand-473-dollars-60-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 83-dollars-66-cents a barrel.
