# The DA has welcomed a ruling by the Western Cape High Court granting an urgent interdict preventing the MK Party’s parliamentary leader, John Hlophe, from joining the Judicial Service Commission. DA national spokesperson, Karabo Khakhau, hails this as a victory for judicial integrity. She says this reinforces South Africa’s commitment to maintaining an independent and ethical judiciary:
# The DA’s Gauteng leader, Solly Msimanga says residents want to see stability in municipalities in the province. Msimanga addressed the media following the removal of Cilliers Brink as mayor of Tshwane. He says the government of national unity must also bee seen in the municipalities in Gauteng:
# The Western Cape is facing significant strain on its infrastructure and public services due to rapid population growth, largely driven by in-migration from other provinces. According to the Provincial Economic Review and Outlook report, between 2022 and 2026, net migration will account for 51.2-percent of the total population growth in the province. Between 2015 and 2024, the province saw a 19.6-percent increase in its population size. Finance MEC Deidré Baartman says meticulous planning and considerable investments are needed to address the expansion of the population.
# Rugby: The four South African franchises start the new season of the United Rugby Championship tomorrow. First up, the Lions will host Ulster in Johannesburg, with kick-off just before one o’clock. The Bulls and Edinburgh will do battle at Loftus from three, whereafter the teams will take a break to watch the Springboks take on Argentina in Mbombela. The Sharks’ match against Connacht in Galway kicks off at 8.35, while the Stormers will play Ospreys in Bridgend the same time.

Gold sells at two-thousand-663-dollars-45-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 71-dollars-12-cents a barrel.
# And finally: Coldplay is set to surpass Taylor Swift’s record next year, with a groundbreaking ten-night run at London’s Wembley Stadium. Last month, Swift finished the European leg of her Eras Tour with an eighth concert at Wembley, overtaking a record for any solo singer, which was set by Michael Jackson with his Bad Tour in 1988. Coldplay’s tour is in support of its tenth album, Moon Music, which is scheduled for release next Friday. Tickets for the tour go on sale today.
