# The GOOD Party says South Africa’s genocide case against Israel before the International Court of Justice is based on evidence that is going to be objectively difficult to refute. Secretary-General Brett Herron says Israel is entitled to file its reply to the accusation, now supported by about 18 other countries, that it is committing genocide against the people of Palestine, and in Gaza in particular:
Meanwhile, Israel says the Rafah Crossing to Egypt will reopen in both directions on Wednesday for limited movement of people, not goods. The decision follows a security assessment and a review of the conditions required to resume activity at the crossing, while maintaining restrictions due to ongoing threats in the area. The crossing is Gaza’s main gateway to the outside world. Entry and exit for Gazan residents will be coordinated with Egypt, require prior Israeli security approval, and take place under the supervision of the European Union mission.
Back home:
# Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for eight suspects following the killing of two people in Eldorado Park. Six people were wounded. Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says a group of unknown men apparently entered a social gathering on Saturday evening and started shooting randomly. She says the suspects fled the scene on foot, and the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage:
# Rugby: Springbok Sevens coach Philip Snyman is extremely proud of his team’s ‘never say die ’ attitude. The Blitzboks defeated Fiji 10-7 to win the American tournament in New York and seal the 2026 World Sevens Series title. Snyman praised the squad for embracing his vision of building depth by introducing new players. He adds there is still a lot to play for, including the three tournaments of the World Championship:
# The financial indicators: The dollar trades at 16-rand-85-cents and the euro at 19-rand-29-cents. One British pound costs 22-rand-33-cents and Bitcoin trades at 73-thousand-225-dollars. Gold sells at four-thousand-986-dollars-41-cents a fine ounce and Brent crude oil is quoted at 101-dollars-99-cents a barrel.
# And finally: President Cyril Ramaphosa says with this year marking three decades since South Africa adopted its Constitution, government has worked to restore the dignity of all citizens. In his weekly newsletter, he says of all the values enshrined in the Constitution, one of the most fundamental is the advancement of human dignity, which must be preserved in all circumstances. Ramaphosa adds human dignity also means that people have to be involved in decisions that affect their lives and that shape their country.
