# The ANC says its parliamentary caucus may review its position on certain Budgets after DA leader John Steenhuisen threatened not to support funding linked to compromised ANC ministers. Steenhuisen also confirmed the DA’s withdrawal from the National Dialogue. ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says the DA must decide if it’s part of the Government of National Unity or the opposition:
# The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse is calling for conflict of interest audits across government departments. This follows the arrest of Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo and six others on corruption charges linked to the appointment of Dineo Mokwele in an executive position without policing qualifications. OUTA’s Wayne Duvenage says too many officials and their families do business with the state, urging president Cyril Ramaphosa to enhance reforms to stop corruption:
# Police in the Free State seized counterfeit goods worth over 19-million-rand and arrested six foreign nationals during operations in Bloemfontein this week. Led by the National Counterfeit Goods Unit, with support from SARS Customs, over 13-thousand fake luxury items were confiscated. Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk says the arrests include immigration violations, with one suspect facing an additional charge for resisting arrest. She says efforts to combat illicit trade continues:
# The head of the UN’s nuclear watchdog says Iran has the capacity to start enriching uranium again – for a possible bomb – in a matter of months. The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said the US strikes on three Iranian sites last weekend had caused severe but not total damage. It contradicts Donald Trump’s claim that Iran’s nuclear facilities were totally obliterated. Grossi said one cannot claim that everything has disappeared and there is nothing there. Grossi told CBS News Tehran could have some of the equipment ready to produce enriched uranium.
# Golf: Twenty year old Aldrich Potgieter of South Africa is on the verge of history. The youngest rookie on the PGA TOUR holds a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Rocket Classic. This is after playing a round of 65 yesterday that included five straight birdies from holes four to nine. If he can finish the job today, Potgieter would become the youngest South African ever to win on the PGA TOUR. Right behind him are five players tied at 17-under: Max Greyserman, Jake Knapp, Mark Hubbard, Andrew Putnam and Chris Kirk.
# And finally soccer: The wage dispute between the reigning Women’s Africa Cup of Nations champions, Banyana Banyana, and the South African Football Association has been resolved. Banyana refused to train in Morocco due to unpaid salaries and training camp fees from SAFA. The team is preparing for the tournament starting 5 July. Speaking after the SAFA congress in Sandton, SAFA vice-president, Linda Zwane acknowledged March bonuses weren’t paid stating the matter has been settled:
