# Two people have died after a minibus overturned on the N4 near Klein Olifants Dam in Middleburg, Mpumalanga. The vehicle was carrying IPAC church members enroute to Carnival City. Three passengers were seriously injured, while eight sustained minor injuries. Meanwhile the Limpopo Transport Department has warned motorists to expect heavy traffic today, especially on the N1, R101, R71, and D4040 routes. The department’s spokesperson Tidimalo Chuene says law enforcement remains active to manage congestion and curb violations. She urges drivers to buckle up, obey speed limits, avoid barrier line overtaking, and never drink and drive:
# The Gauteng Health Department has activated a full emergency response as Easter weekend rainfall raises flood risks. He urges residents to avoid flooded zones, avoid low lying bridges and to remain vigilant:
# The Public Servants Association has condemned the alarming rise in cases of sexual abuse of learners by teachers. According to the PSA, a total of 111 cases were recorded in the 2024/2025 period, a 35-percent increase from the previous year. The association’s Claude Naiker says current measures are failing to protect learners and is calling for stricter vetting, mandatory abuse reporting, and better training for school staff.
# A deputy sheriff’s son killed two people and wounded four others at Florida State University in the USA on Thursday before he was shot by officers and hospitalized. Police believe the gunman – the son of a Leon County sheriff’s deputy – acted alone and a motive was not known. The suspect had access to his mother’s handgun, which was once her service weapon. According to police she bought it from the department and it became a personal firearm.
# And, Soccer: Manchester United made a remarkable comback in their quarter-final clash against Lyon by scoring three goals in extra-time. Ruben Amorim’s side were 6-4 down with six minutes remaining in extra-time – before Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire scored. This victory gave Manchester United a 7-6 aggregate over Lyon. In the other semi-final Dominic Solanke’s first-half penalty earns Spurs their place with a 2-1 aggregate win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
