Discussions will cover regional integration, food security, and health. Zimbabwe will assume the SADC chairmanship during the summit. Ramaphosa is joined by International Relations minister, Ronald Lamola and Finance minister Enoch Godongwana.
Meanwhile, the President has appointed minister of Defence and Military Veterans Angie Motshekga as acting president for today while he attends the summit. Motshekga will oversee presidential duties during his absence.

Minister of Electricity and Energy, Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, announced the withdrawal of the plan to procure two-thousand-500 megawatts of nuclear energy, a move the environmental justice organisation had challenged in court. The institute Francesca de Gasparis views the decision as a victory for public participation and democratic processes:

# Western Cape police have arrested a 17-year-old boy for the murder of Overberg High School pupil Deveney Nel. The Grade 10 pupil’s body was found in a storeroom at the school last week Wednesday, shortly after her mother reported her missing when she did not arrive for her school transport. Police spokesperson Novela Potelwa said following an extensive investigation detectives made a breakthrough and arrested the boy on Friday. He was charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Caledon Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
# And finally, Rugby: In a complete turnabout from last week, the New Zealand team took revenge at Eden Park in Auckland in a 42-10 victory over Argentina in the Rugby Championship. The Pumas were mostly overwhelmed by the relentless All Blacks who went into halftime with five tries and a score of 35-3. The Pumas scored a single try in the 72nd minute, with the All Blacks going over the line for one more try in the second half. In neighbouring Australia the Springboks are now playing the Wallabies in Perth, in the second of two Tests.
